Syllabus Terms

Write about the term you were assigned.  Remember that we are trying to figure out what these things mean in the context of the class, so one of you sentences might mention what you think it has to do with the class.  Post your sentences as a comment and don't forget to put your name and email address on it.  I'll go first.

Rhythm is the patterned recurring alternations of contrasting elements of sound or speech. It can be seen in Shakespeare's work which was written in iambic pentameter. Rhythm is often used in poems and sonnets.

Primary research is getting information for a certain topic or genre by using the real world. It is the type of research a news reporter would use for his topic. An example would be asking people what they think on a subject.

ISBN stands for the International Standard Book Number.  In short it is basically a set of numbers used to identify books.  Recently the code changed from 10 digits to 13 digits.  The ISBN can relate to our class because we can use it to find a specific edition to a book we may need for class, without wasting much time.John-Michael Robinsonjrobi55@lsu.edu

Coherence can be referred to as having the same wavelength, pattern, or phase. In other words, coherence is a way of keeping things consistent. This consistency can be applied to someone’s actions or simply a way of writing. When one is asked to be coherent in his writing style it means to remain in the same rhythm and general layout throughout the work.
